About us
Brothers Scott & Keith McKay grew up in Windcrest...the very neighborhood in which they now work & serve together. In fact, their love for tennis was born on these very courts. They shared many things growing up - among them was a passion for tennis. They spent 2 years playing doubles on the ATP circuit and ever since, have dreamed of working together. Like most brothers, they've always had a lot in common, so it's no coincidence that the Lord began stirring their hearts for Him at about the same time. They both trusted Christ as their Saviour as adults - Scott in his early 30's and Keith in his late 20's. Their passion for the Lord is the greatest thing they've ever shared. Both Scott & Keith can attest to the struggle of growing up on the court...feeling that constant pressure & drive to win. "We've been athletes nearly all our lives. And most of our lives as competitors have been marked by the constant pressure to win. We pushed ourselves to succeed for all the wrong reasons. We fed our egos with rankings, engraved silver plates, prize money & the praise of men. The satisfaction of all of it was short-lived," says Keith. Scott adds, "When we became Christ-followers, we recognized that, all along, our hunger had been for the lasting reward of which the Apostle Paul spoke in 1st Corinthians 9:24-25: "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever." Once we understood that, our view of sports & competition was forever changed."

In January 2010, we established the non-profit organization, CrossTrain Sports - the umbrella under which we formed CrossTrain Junior Tennis Academy. Windcrest Tennis Center is now home-base for CrossTrain Sports, Inc. & CrossTrain Junior Tennis Academy. CrossTrain Sports seeks to make a positive difference in the lives of area youth through faith-based sports programs. CrossTrain Junior Tennis Academy delivers top-notch tennis programs designed to equip students with solid skills on the court, while also equipping the student athlete for a life lived in pursuit of Christ. The CrossTrain student is well-versed in the mechanics of the game and also understands the value & importance of competing in a manner which glorifies God - exhibiting integrity, commitment, teamwork, loyalty & perseverence. Developing these & other Godly characteristics is at the heart of all CrossTrain programs.Off the court, we support CrossTrain students with Christ-centered mentorships designed to continue from one school year to the next. We host weekly group Bible studies & fellowship following our on-court training sessions. We provide discipleship opportunities & service opportunities in which students may participate. Daily, coaches & students focus on a selected verse of scripture and apply it to their on-court instruction. We recently implemented a Pay-What-You-Can program so that any student interested in participating in CrossTrain programs has the opportunity to do so. Program fees are stated but a family may pay whatever they are able to pay in order to participate. We think winning is a great goal & we'll train our kids to do their very best on the court. But while we believe earthly winning is certainly something to aim for - it's not our highest goal. Again, those trophies turn to rust and in due time, the titles fade away. The Apostle Paul said it best...ultimately, we train for the reward which lasts forver.

About 10 years ago, God began planting in our hearts a desire to minister to kids through sports. With first-hand knowledge of the struggles that come with competing for personal glory, we became passionate about helping kids find their identity in Christ and to compete in a manner which glorifies God...and doesn't leave a longing for more at the end of the day. God has called us to this place in our lives - to invest our careers, our energy, our abilities & our resources into this generation of students - that they might know Christ through a personal relationship with Him and that they might pursue His glory and purpose for their lives.

We believe the Bible is the Word of God. We believe there is one true living God who exists in three persons: God the Father, Jesus Christ & the Holy Spirit. We believe God created all things for His glory. We believe men & women were created in the image of God. We believe God alone is the architect & finisher of our salvation. We believe the Holy Spirit gives gifts to His children. We believe the Church consists of all those who have trusted the Lord Jesus Christ for their eternal salvation. We believe heaven & hell are real places. We believe Jesus Christ will one day return to establish His Kingdom. More important than our denominational association is our desire to lift up the name & life of Jesus & to live according to His Word & Spirit.
